INLAND WETLANDS COMMISSION
MINUTES
Regular Meeting of June 25, 2014 at 7:30 pm
Council Chambers, Municipal Center, 3 Primrose Street, Newtown, CT

These Minutes are Subject to Approval by the Inland Wetlands Commission

Present:  Mary Curran, Craig Ferris, Kristen Hammar, Anne Peters and Sharon Salling; Not Present:  John Davin; Staff Present:  Steve Maguire, Land Use Enforcement Officer and Tammy Hazen, Clerk

PENDING APPLICATION

IW #14-08  10 Taunton Lane, Ten Taunton Lane, LLC.  Application for grading work to be done in a 3-lot subdivision.

Dennis McMorrow from Berkshire Engineering and Surveying, Bantam CT, reviewed plans and answered questions.  After discussions:
Mr. Ferris motioned to approve the application with standard conditions A, B, C, D, E, F, J, K, O, P and
  • The approved plans are “Subdivision Plans”, prepared for Ten Taunton Lane, LLC, Taunton Lane, Newtown, Connecticut.  Dated April 30, 2014.
Ms. Curran seconded the motion, Ms. Peter abstained, and all were in favor.

IW # 14-10  12 Dickinson Drive, Town of Newtown Public Building and Site Commission.  Application for Sandy Hook School.

Ms. Curran stated that since this application is of considerable public interest, she felt there should be a public hearing.  Ms. Curran then motioned to set a public hearing for July 9, 2014. Mr. Ferris seconded the motion.  The motion was unanimously approved.  A public hearing will be held on July 9, 2014 in Council Chambers, Municipal Center, 3 Primrose Street in Newtown, CT.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Ms. Hammar motioned to approve the minutes of May 28, 2014, which was seconded by Ms. Peters.  Ms. Curran and Ms. Salling abstained.  Change:  The word “minor” should be taken out of the acceptance of applications for IW #14-08.  The minutes were approved as amended.
Mr. Ferris motioned to approve the minutes of June 11, 2014 which was seconded by Ms. Curran. Commissioners Hammar, Peters and Salling abstained.  Change:  “Dickenson” should be spelled “Dickinson.”  The minutes were approved as amended.  

STAFF REPORT – None.

ACCEPTANCE OF NEW APPLICATIONS
Aquifer Protection Review  (APR #14-01) Referral by Planning & Zoning on application by Town of Newtown Public Building and Site Commission for a special exception to construct a public elementary school, 12 Dickenson Drive in Sandy Hook, CT.    This will be heard on July 9, 2014.

ADJOURNMENT Ms. Hammer motioned to adjourn the meeting.  Ms. Salling seconded the motion which was approved unanimously.  The meeting adjourned at 7:50 pm.
